Annuities

Index-linked annuities

For claimants, and attorneys structuring their fees, who want more upside, some life insurers offer annuities with payments linked to a market index such as the S&P 500.

How it works

Payments can rise, but never fall below a benchmark amount

Each year, the annuity payments can rise with the index, up to a set maximum. If the index falls, the payments stay level. They can only increase or hold steady.
